We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday by gathering friends in a private room at a local restaurant. She knew about the dinner, BUT she didn't know that everyone would be dressed in disco costumes in honor of the decade of her birthday.
We also had a few things to deck her out in such as disco ball earrings, a tiara, and "I'm the birthday girl sash" etc.
We had beautiful disco ball centerpieces for the tables, a disco ball cake and party favors at each seat (which were cute pink bags of retro-candy - candy cigarettes, etc).
We also had a disco music playlist and a Bee Gees concert dvd on mute playing on the flat screen. We had a quiz titled, "How much do you know about Holly?" The winner received a Brady Bunch DVD.
Finally, we had a powerpoint of Holly's childhood through her years as a mom. The powerpoint was shown to the music "You've Got the Best of my Love."
Lisa says: Sounds like a really special night! These are great ideas to include in any 70's party planning! Thanks for sharing.
