Easy Party Tips

Follow these easy rules "that mother always told us" regarding to diet tips and you'll be just fine.

  • Eat before you go to the party - if you are already full, you'll be better able to avoid temptation!
  • At the party, fill up on the "good" stuff on table.
  • Only make one trip to the food table.
  • It's OK to say no or just take a small bite.
  • If it is potluck, or if you are bringing something to set out on the table, bring something that is on your "good food" list. That way you'll be sure to have something you can go to.

  •  Healthy Diet Party Food Recipes to Try

    Fruit Salad

    I bring this to a lot of parties when I need to bring a dish. Everyone loves it, and I know it is something that everyone will be able  to enjoy unless they have an allergy to one of the ingredients. You can make it ahead of time too and chill it - I think sometimes making it the day before is nice because then all the flavors have a bit of time to work together.

    • 2 cups cubed cantaloupe
    • 2 cups cubed watermelon
    • 2 cup cubed honeydew melon
    • 1 1/2 cup green grapes
    • 1 1/2 cup seedless red grapes
    • 1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained

    Combine in a large bowl.

    Mexican Dip

    7 layer dips are a popular party staple. Everyone loves it, and it is easy to make! If you use fat-free or low-fat products, it is also a low fat item.

    • can fat-free refried beans
    • mashed avocados
    • nonfat sour cream
    • shredded fat-free cheddar cheese
    • salsa
    • chopped tomato
    • chopped onion
    • sliced black olives


    Layer the above ingredients in a serving dish.
