Easy Ocean Cake Ideas

An ocean cake - perfect for using for a pool party, beach party, or luau party. These are actually some of the most popular ideas for a birthday party or "just because" party, and the cake lends itself to being open to lots of different interpretations of what to put on it for an under the sea or underwater cake.

Here are a couple that I found online that are good examples of something that anyone can easily do for a cake that is under the sea.

You can add sea creatures to your cake in many ways such as with toy fish or with fondant.

Decorating an Ocean Cake

The underwater cake examples shown here could be used anytime you want a underwater or beach cake for any of those themes.

It would also work for someone who loves the ocean, marine life, or as a scuba diving cake.

Here are some more ideas:

For a great marine life cake, you could focus on one marine species, like the example of a sea turtle cake or a clownfish with a Nemo cake.
Make "sea glass" - edible sea glass that is and serve with the cake.
For a beach scene, use crumbled graham cracker crumbs for the sand.
For sea shells, use candy that is shaped like shells. There is even some chocolate candy that is colored to look like real shells!
Gummy fish, like swedish fish, can be eaten right off the cake
Use small dolls on your cake as swimmers, or even as a mermaid, like on this mermaid cake

One thing I love about the Ocean Cake is the flexibility that it has towards any kind of party, and the ease of decorating because you can use any fun assortment of ocean life on it.
